Comprehensive Eye Exam

Are you a resident of Arvada, CO, and want to see your best? Come to Arvada Optometric Center, where you'll have a skilled eye doctor conduct an eye exam. Here's what you need to know:

Eye Exam

The Exam

We perform eye exams for people of all ages, which also means we do pediatric exams too. One early note -- people often think that a "vision exam" and an "eye exam" are the same thing. They aren't. A vision exam checks just that -- how well you see. An eye exam goes a lot more in-depth.

The eye doctor will have you do the standard vision test, but then they will do other measurements and check the shape of your eye. Another thing they will check is if you have any issues with how your eyes refract light.

An optometrist will check for any signs of conditions whose symptoms might not have presented themselves yet. This includes the puff test for glaucoma, and they'll look inside your eye for any potential macular degeneration, among other things. You should let them know if you have any conditions like diabetes.

Diagnosis

If the exam shows any kinds of conditions, whether it's myopia or glaucoma, the optometrist will determine the best course of action. This could range from eyeglasses to potentially needing laser surgery. Sometimes you might need medication, mostly in the form of eyedrops.

You want to make sure you take care of your eyes. They are what you use for seeing the world, after all. Having this vision exam can help keep things the way they are, or close to it. You may never have thought about wearing contacts before, but if you do wind up needing them, the staff will show you how to put them on and care for them.

We know that it can be nerve-wracking to have your eyes checked, especially if you've been having issues. We'll make things comfortable for you and all family members as soon as you come into our office. The exam should last about an hour, maybe less, depending on what we need to do and what condition your eyes are in. Then we'll work with you to get you where you need to be, vision-wise.
